Uehara, O's Fall Late To Rays

The Birds were unable to start a winning streak, as they fell to Tampa Bay 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon.

O's starter Koji Uehara was magnificent early on, but eventually was handed the loss. Uehara threw 92 pitches (72 for strikes) in 6 2/3 innings. He was charged with six runs (only three earned) on seven hits while walking one and striking out eight. The O's defense betrayed him...three errors in the game...

Brian Roberts' 2-run shot in the third inning gave the Birds a 2-1 lead...it was Roberts' second homer in as many games. Catcher Gregg Zaun added a solo blast in the fifth to give the O's a 3-1 lead...Tampa Bay scored the final five runs of the game...

The Orioles return home for a seven-game stretch that puts them up against the Minnesota Twins, the Yankees and the Rays. Mark Hendrickson is slated to start Wednesday night...Go O's!

O' Yeah...
  • The Birds are now 0-13 when scoring four runs or less...
  • Gregg Zaun's homer in the fifth was his first this season...he was the only Opening Day starter without a homer until today
  • Zaun's average has improved from .129 to .162 over the 2-game series against Tampa Bay
