Greinke, Royals Shut Down O's

After a long rain delay, Zack Greinke led the Kansas City Royals to an 8-1 victory over the Orioles Friday night at Kauffman Stadium.

Greinke (7-1) outpitched O's starter Adam Eaton (2-4), who was tagged with the loss...the Birds managed just six hits off Greinke in seven innings, and struck out six times...the O's scored their lone run in the third inning after Brian Roberts doubled, stole third and came home on Aubrey Huff's single...

Eaton was knocked out of the game after five innings and was charged with seven runs off ten hits...he walked one, struck out three and allowed two home runs...both homers came in a disastrous four-run fourth inning that all but sealed the O's fate...

On the bright side, starter-turned-reliever Mark Hendrickson looked solid in three innings of relief...Hendrickson allowed three hits and one run while walking none and striking out four. The O's were able to save their bullpen for Saturday night's game, with Rich Hill making his first start of the season...I'm not sure if Hill is on a pitch limit, but he threw 95 pitches in his last start at Triple A Norfolk...Go O's!

O' Yeah...

Here's a breakdown through the first 36 games of the season:

  • Monday: 3-2
  • Tuesday: 3-2
  • Wednesday: 2-4
  • Thursday: 3-1
  • Friday: 1-5
  • Saturday: 2-3
  • Sunday: 1-4

Now that I look at it, Sunday's still aren't so hot! Go O's...
