The Birds snapped a five-game losing streak, and left St. Petersburg with a win after defeating the Rays 8-7 on Thursday night.
Brian Matusz (2-2) got the win after allowing four runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings...Matusz walked none and struck out seven in the victory...
Brian Roberts drilled a grand slam of former Oriole Lance Cormier in the sixth, and Nolan Reimold smacked a 3-run shot in the seventh to give the O's the run support they eventually needed...Danys Baez allowed three runs in the eighth to make it close, but Jim Johnson held the Rays scoreless and picked up his fifth save of the season.
The Birds head to Chicago to take on the White Sox this weekend; Jeremy Guthrie starts Friday night...Go O's!
