Hernandez Shines, Berken Falters

David Hernandez pitched the Birds to a much-needed 3-2 victory on Tuesday night before Jason Berken struggled in a 6-3 loss Wednesday afternoon.

Hernandez (4-4) went 6 2/3 and allowed just two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out six...the bullpen held the A's to just one hit the rest of the way and Jim Johnson picked up the save.

Berken pitched a decent game but (as usual) was hurt by one bad inning...he allowed four runs in the fourth and the bats just couldn't pick him up...Berken lasted just five innings and the bullpen allowed two late runs to cross the plate. The offensive highlight of the game: Aubrey Huff's 2-run blast in the sixth...

The O's are off Thursday before beginning a 4-game set against the Angels Friday evening...Chris Tillman looks for his first win of the season...Go O's!
