Berken Picks Up a Win!

The Orioles edged the Blue Jays 7-5 Friday night at Rogers Centre in Toronto.

It looked like Jason Berken (2-9) was in for another rough start...Berken breezed through the first but gave up deep back-to-back solo homers in the second inning to give the Jays a 2-0 lead. Meanwhile, the O's bats were silent...the Birds were hitless through four innings...Berken was well on his way to his tenth straight loss.

Berken settled down though, allowing just one more run to score in the fifth inning. His final line: six innings, five hits, three earned runs, two walks and six strikeouts. The bats sprung to life in the sixth inning; the O's scored four times and added another three runs in the eighth.

Jim Johnson pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save, his third of the season and first since taking over the closing role...

The Birds send Chris Tillman to the mound Saturday afternoon...Go O's!!
