The curse is over! The Birds won in Boston for the first time this season, beating the Sox 6-2 on Sunday afternoon.
David Hernandez was lights-out for most of the game, and departed after seven strong innings in which he allowed just one run on five hits. Hernandez (3-2) struck out two and didn't issue a walk in the win.
The offense banged-out ten hits for the second consecutive game, but this time they converted those hits into runs. Nick Markakis, batting clean-up for the first time this season, responded by going 2-for-4 with a double, a solo homer and three RBIs.
The win marked the first for the O's at Fenway since July of 2008; they had dropped 11 straight since then...
The Birds return home after a disastrous road trip in which the team went 2-7 (1-5 against AL East opponents). Rich Hill (3-3) is scheduled to start Monday night at Camden Yards...he faces former Oriole Bruce Chen (sporting an 0-5 record). It's time to start a winning streak...Go O's!!
