Bedard Baffles Birds in Blowout

Former Oriole Eric Bedard held the Birds' bats in check, and the O's fell to Seattle 8-2 on Tuesday night.

So....I WAS excited to see Bedard again, but only if we were able to knock him around and force his early departure (take Mike Mussina last season). Unfortunately for the Birds, Bedard dominated his former team and even smirked when he handed the ball over in the seventh...

The smirk came with good reason...Bedard (4-2) went 6 1/3 innings and allowed just one run off four hits. He walked three and struck out seven...looked just like the old Bedard we knew and loved.

O's starter David Hernandez didn't even compare in his second start in the Majors...Hernandez (1-1) allowed five runs on 10 hits in just 5 1/3 innings. The relief pitching didn't help...Jamie Walker allowed two homers in the eighth, which basically sealed the win for Seattle.

This is why I love baseball...the two teams go at it again Wednesday night in the rubber-match...Brad Bergesen takes the mound for the Birds...Go O's!

O' Yeah...

  1. i was looking at the O's Minor league recent games and the Minor league afflite page and Jake Arrieta (SP) has 65 strikeouts over 10 starts for Double-A Bowie this season

i think they should should move him up to AAA Norfolk cuz he is dominating at Bowie

  2. Jake Arrieta is a beast...I think he just turned 23 though...either way I agree with you and would imagine he'll be in Norfolk before the end of the season...

  4. most of our rookie pitchers that we have up in the majors are around 23-25

    Arrieta is a beast..

i'm just waiting for MW to get something going with his bat, his average is low for 4-5 games, and he isnt hitting the ball to well, but his defense is outstanding
